Title: High fever that won't go down?
Fever Management: doctor's advice to avoid panic. By Dr. David Caruso, Provincial Register of MEDICINE AND SURGERY (Order of the Province of PALERMO) no. 0000018730
Fever is not an illness, but a sign that our immune system is working. However, when the thermometer exceeds 38.5°C and common antipyretics seem ineffective, anxiety increases.
What to do immediately:
Hydration: Drinking water, herbal teas, or rehydration solutions is essential to prevent dehydration.
Avoid “do-it-yourself” with antibiotics: Antibiotics treat bacteria, not flu viruses. Misusing them is harmful.
When to request a Medi-Click visit in Palermo: If the fever is accompanied by severe headache, neck stiffness, skin rash, or if it persists for more than 48 hours without improvement. The Medi-Click Palermo doctor, during the home visit, will perform pulmonary auscultation and evaluate vital signs to rule out complications such as pneumonia or bacterial infections, prescribing targeted therapy."
